A whistleblower claim arises when an employee suffers adverse consequences for engaging in activity protected by law or public policy.

A successful claim does not depend on the size of the employer or its firm; it has everything to do with good facts, and a  highly qualified, committed legal team.

Transcription of video:

A whistleblower is an employee that, through the nature of his or her work, becomes aware of some illegal activity on the part of the employer.  Employees with integrity what to do what is right, so the employee either reports the illegal activity or refuses to participate in it.  As a result, the employer retaliates and the employee suffers some adverse consequences.  These facts give rise to a whistle-blower claim.

In our experience at the Law Offices of Fern Trevino, whistle-blower claims often settle early on before a complaint is ever filed.  That is because many employers are concerned about negative publicity.  In cases that have not resolved, we have vigorously litigated cases in various industries.

Some employees wonder how just one employee can win in court against a large corporation, but success has nothing to do with the size of the employer.  Success has everything to do with good facts, and a committed, highly qualified legal team.
